Is this sensible?
So you may have seen that I posted on here about a week ago for used car suggestions.
I'm now thinking that I might be better just keeping my old car going.
The situation is that the clutch is on its way out on my old car. Now I can afford to get the clutch done quite easily, however the cambelt is also due so if I am spending money on the clutch I would want to get that done, plus it could do with a service. Now I would happily get that done as I really like the car and deep down do not really want to get rid of it.
However the problem I have is that on last years MOT (August) it got an advisory for a corroded subframe (it did the previous year as well). My worry is that I will spend a load of money on it now, only for it to fail its MOT in August on the subframe (which I know would cost a lot to repair)
So maybe an idea would be to MOT it now, for the sake of £40 I'll know then that side of it is fine for 12 months. Is that a sensible idea or not?

It’s not a bad plan, presume we are dealing with a £500 or less valued car? You could just ask your mechanic if it will pass the MOT before putting it in for 1.1

That sounds like the best plan, yes.1
