Wrong name on land registry

I need advise! When we purchased our house we had my partners middle name on the details for land registry however his middle name was given to him when being christened not when born so it’s not in any official documents. This was not questioned at the time by our solicitors and I was unaware it was not an official middle name.
How do we go about getting the middle name removed?

Has somebody told you that you need to have it removed? I wouldn't really see a need for it - pretty commonplace for people to be inconsistent with whether they put their middle name in (I do it myself!).0

If he uses the middle name, that is his name. No such thing as an "official" name.0

We tried to sell our house a few years ago and it was brought up by the solicitors that it was wrong and they wanted some identification with his middle name on. That sale fell through so we didn’t go any further but now we are thinking about selling again and I thought it may be best to get it sorted now rather than have a hold up if we sell.davidmcn said:Has somebody told you that you need to have it removed? Then I would say you encountered an unusually fussy solicitor. If you're talking about a property in England or Wales then the Land Registry rep on the forum may be able to assist. Or he could of course change his other ID to match instead, or just sign a deed poll or whatever would satisfy the solicitor.Gmg1 said:

I just wanted some advice before speaking to a solicitor and potentially wasting money if we didn’t need to.0 -
Assuming you still want to use the same solicitor, may be best just to contact them and ask them what they would expect?Gmg1 said:davidmcn said:

You can apply to update the register to match passport or driving licence. Lodge it as a change of name from XYZ to XZ and submit a certified copy of either his passport (name page) or driving licence
Many lenders insist on names matching precisely and solicitors can follow suit. Whilst we will often accept a certificate from a conveyancer confirming the right name many will match lender requirements and insist the register is updated first before completing a transaction“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"3 -
Thank you ! Would this need to be done with the AP1 form ?Land_Registry said:You can apply to update the register to match passport or driving licence. Lodge it as a change of name from XYZ to XZ and submit a certified copy of either his passport (name page) or driving licence
