Anyone had problems depositing a cheque using HSBC app?

I have been unable to deposit two different cheques using the HSBC app - both took the photos but then just gave an error message saying to try later. Various things tried over a few days including different backgrounds, lighting, restarting phone. After it happened with the first one, I gave up and deposited it into a different bank (using their app) without any issue. The same thing then happened again with a second cheque a couple of months later, which again afterwards was successfully deposited into another bank (again via app). Both were Barclays cheques but from different people.

I complained to HSBC but after a few backwards and forwards emails they have basically said that they don't know what the problem is and the only thing they can suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling the app and trying again. Obviously I have already deposited the cheques so can't try this, and it's unlikely I will get another cheque any time soon.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem and if so, did you get any answers from HSBC?

No issues use it occasionally, this weekend it worked.

I've been having problems today. I have 3 cheques to deposit for a few pounds each. The first one went in OK but no success with the other two. Keeps saying there was an error processing your transaction and to try again later. Error RDP500

EDIT: These cheques all had a blank rear side. Just spoke to HSBC chat support and they told me to write my name, HSBC sort-code and account number on the back of the cheque and they then processed successfully.

Thanks for that Swipe. Persistent errors with image (possibly due to oversized cheque) then error message 101 'Amount cannot be zero' despite amount box being £100.00. Quick scribble on the back and all's well.
