PPI claim company

I had a PPI claim rejected in 2018 through a PPI claim company. The bank involved informed me last week they are now settling on my claim. So I still owe the claims company as was settled without them.

  • Yes, that sounds right.
  • Unless the claims firm wrote to you and confirmed they were closing the case with no more claim on the refund, yes they will want their cut - it could well be up to 40% of the money so I would put aside half the refund in a savings account (say the virgin current account paying 2% up to £1000) and wait for their letter.

The legal ombudsman stated that once a claims company said the case was closed and more than 6 months had passed, that was it.   The FOS, on the other hand, have given rulings that it goes back to who originated the complaint, even if the company closed it.
