ID for an 18yo

My daughter will be 18 next month. Am I correct in thinking that the only ID acceptable for her if she wishes to buy alcohol from a shop or pub (when open) is either a passport or driving license? I'm reluctant for her to take her passport out with her, so if there's nothing else she can use will need to send off for her provisional license or is there something else?

No, she can apply for any PASS accredited ID card, which should be accetped as ID to purchase alcohol

Thanks for your answers. This is good to know. Of the two suggested is there one more widely recognised/accepted than the other or should either be ok?0

the firts link is information to the age verification scheme called PASS. it is the registration scheme that retailers will accept, and the ID card will have the PASS hologram logo on it. the second link is the citizen card, which is the organisation that issues the card with the PASS verification. on the first link there are a few cards that you could apply for and they all seem to be around £15 fee. i would guess they are all acceptable by retailers, but maybe someone else may be able to confirm this.
i stopped as soon as i saw £15 as i wasn't going to pay that

@AskAsk - Thank you for the further information. I'm going to order one for her. It can't come in advance of her 18th birthday due to not having a valid from date on it, so my idea of wrapping one up as a present has failed. Minor inconvenience as pubs probably won't be open anyway -lol. I don't mind paying £15 for it, cheaper than paying for a provisional license since she currently has no interest in lessons or replacing her passport if she loses it. Thanks for the help.1

@Spendless - sorry I'm nearly 60, so no idea if any one is more 'accepted' than any other. But as they are all PASS accredited, then they should all be equal.1
