Being logged out when trying to pay amex?

I get this problem when trying to pay off my amex credit card balance, when i submit the payment amex logs me out of my account and when i log back in the payment has not been made. Normally this happens once and then goes through, the customer service told me others have reported this to them and for me to try the usual clearing the cache also try with ms edge browser instead of chrome.
Non of this worked unfortunately so i phoned up to make a payment and I'm asked for a memorable date which i don't recall, the last resort they told me is to try bacs payment or setup a direct debit instead.
Anyone else ever had this problem with amex?

    It has been mentioned in a few threads that this occasionally happens to other Amex users, I've never paid mine via the Amex website i've either done it with the App or done a faster payment using the details:

    Sort code: 30-00-00

    Account number: 00200476

    Use your 15 digit American Express Card number as the reference.


    They payment done via faster payments is usually credited within an hour of making the payment or 2 hours at the most when i've done it.

    Yeah , the same thing happens with both mine and OHs Amex and has been an issue for several months.
    Done the same as you in trying different browsers, internet tricks etc but gave up trying a few months ago.
    It is really simple to make a payment via the automated phone method once you have done it for the first time as Amex remembers the debit card details and reconciles the phone number you are calling from with your Amex card details.
  • I pay using the app with a saved card. Never had any issues on platinum, gold or green. But as said, it is a saved card so only needs amount and 3 digits from back then processes fine.
