Screening/furlough and payments from work

Good afternoon.
I have just been sent a letter today from my doctor stating that I have to screen due to having a serious illness.
Mr employer says I only get ssp as the furlough scheme ends in a few weeks time.
Is this correct for people that need to screen beyond this time?
Kind regards

"screen"? do you mean shield? I must admit your Doctor is rather late sending you that letter, what have you been doing up to now?
Furlough is due to end at the end of April, whether they will extend it is anyone's guess. Although your employer doesn't have to furlough you but to do this you need to have been on the payroll by end of October 2020. SSP is also payable for 28 weeks, if your employer refuses to furlough you.

Sorry wrong terminology. I've been asking my doctor for months to put me on the shielding list. Been extremely unhappy and vulnerable but today finally got what should have been done months ago.
Talking to my employer today he said that I should be on furlough (been in this employment a year in 2 weeks time) but it ends at the end of this month.
I know that in the first shut down there were people in my workplace on furlough.

The choice is the employer's whether to put a shielded person on furlough or SSP.

In England furlough ends at the end of April and not the end of this month.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/chancellor-extends-furlough-and-loan-schemes It's still entirely the decision of your employer and if they refuse to furlough you then it's SSP you claim.
