Arnold Clark tried to rip me off with my MOT
Hi, I bought my car with a 2yr service & MOT plan last year, my car was put in on Thur afternoon for its Service, and it’s MOT was carried out on Friday, I received a call on Friday afternoon telling me it had failed it’s MOT because the Handbrake had less that 50% grip, this surprised me because the Handbrake was working perfectly when I dropped it off at the garage.
They told me I needed 2 tyres, and that the cost for looking at my Handbrake would be £175 for Labour !!!, I told them not to do it, and that I would take it to my local Tyreservices, they told me if I took it back to them I would get an MOT re-sit for £28, after 10 days it would cost me £80 !!!,
I took the car to Tyreservices this morning, and the mechanic took the wheel of and showed me that the pads had been slackened off by someone, it took him approximately 1 minute to adjust the brakes back to where they should be, he sent it away for it’s MOT, and my car passed with NO advisory’s !!!
I’ve seen many posts on social media with VERY similar themes.
Had I not taken it to a reliable Garage, I would be over £200 out of pocket, I will not be using Arnold Clark again, I’m beyond angry at how they have treated a previously loyal customer.

Why did they mention £80 of you came back after 10 days? The maximum payable for an MOT is £54.85.

Did you notice a difference in operation of the hand brake after you collected from AC compared when you dropped it off? Then after it was fixed?0
