Ex partner opened accounts
Hampton1968
After discovering defaulted accounts on my credit file I have since found out it’s an ex partner who has admitted it
I have reported to action fraud , now what ? Can the debt be transferred to them ? They are willing to try and sort it and put the debt to them .

Yes they will be able to move the debt to the ex partner provided you give all the fraud details to them, they can remove the defaults etc1

So if they co operate and move the debt to them and pay it off hey won’t be prosecuted?Deleted_User said:Yes they will be able to move the debt to the ex partner provided you give all the fraud details to them, they can remove the defaults etc0 -
That isn't something anyone can predict, the debt owner may want to see evidence of a prosecution and your co-operation with it, the police may decide not to go any further. I'd speak to the debtors and give them what you have told us and ask what else they need to move the debtsHampton1968 said:

They will definitely get a CIFAS fraud marker which will prevent them from obtaining pretty much any financial product and they may have all their accounts etc closed however that may not matter as they may be doing a stretch inside0

If they are jailed then they definitely won’t be able to pay back , so makes no sense to do thatJamesyb123 said:They will definitely get a CIFAS fraud marker which will prevent them from obtaining pretty much any financial product and they may have all their accounts etc closed however that may not matter as they may be doing a stretch inside0 -
It is unlikely they would be jailed, but if they were it would be months not years. Criminal prosecutions are also separate from civil debt recovery, so they could be jailed whilst the lenders obtain CCJs and then enforce them after release.Hampton1968 said:

So you'll have to live with a trashed credit file then - it's really an either/or choice - report it or suck it up...Hampton1968 said:

Whether it gets reported to the real police or not will be up to the original creditor.0
