Should I downgrade my Nationwide FlexPlus account to FlexAccount?

I'm paying £13.00 a month and didn't mind as I was using their phone insurance. I just set a direct debit up for Urban Jungle home insurance at £9.75 a month and that covers all my gadgets when out and about. So don't really need Nationwide insurance now. I can't use their travel insurance as have pre-existing mental health conditions, was sectioned September last year so that cancels that out. I can use commission free cash machine/contactless abroad with my Virgin current account.
Only thing is I would need to ring them to downgrade and I have great anxiety ringing people. Should I downgrade?

Can you not downgrade online? Or could you use their secure messaging asking them to do it? Or failing that maybe arrange for them to phone you at a certain time having explained why you need this?Past caring about first world problems.1

just send them a secure message, if you can't find the right subsection, just pick any, they all get there in the end0

Applying for a FlexDirect or a FlexAccount is easy. Nationwide will allow you to have 4 current accounts, so you can just apply for one of these. You don’t say whether you have SOs and / or DDs on the Flexplus but if you have, you can either transfer them manually to the new FlexDirect/FlexAccount, or have them transferred as part of a CASS switch. To close your FlexPlus, you could use a CASS switch, e.g. to your Virgin Money account. This way, you wouldn’t have to talk to anyone.0

You don't need to transfer DD/SOs when downgrading a Nationwide account as you keep same account number but it's just redesignated.0

as above - send them a secure message asking them to downgrade. also say you are a vulnerable person and would like them to do this without a telephone call. If a signature is required then a letter quoting the account number could do.0

just so you know - you can have paper statements on your new flex account but not if you went for the flex direct.0
