dp1 said:Morning everyone
We've thawed overnight - the grass is green again! I have some ironing to do then plan to walk along to supermarket. Little one has been unable to drink liquids for a couple of months, but now is not allowed either jelly or yogurt so I need to experiment with gelatine. Apparently if I put extra gelatine into jelly it will make the jelly into little sweets which won't dissolve in her mouth.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin11 -
dp1, the poor little one, that must be so hard, wanting a drink and not being able to have one. I'm sorry I have no clue on the sweets.
dumpling and AOD I hope you both make swift recoveries.
NMLC, it's a horrible situation isn't it. Brian has been going through similar, they were warned of a restructure last summer and now they are interviewing for the new positions. Fingers crossed he gets the one he has applied for. Laura's freelance work has dried up completely (writing for the non-existent drinks industry) but she is kept busy with her college course and Esben.

I have managed to have a shower. O.H had to dry my back afterwards but I managed the rest and have clean pjs. Actual clothes are a bit too difficult to get on and off. The bruising is spectacular.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12

Well, that was a washout! Got to the garage to find that they are now not allowed to have customers waiting. There's nowhere to go and it's miles from DM's place. Anyway, someone is coming to collect the car tomorrow morning and they will return it later. The time wasn't really wasted as the car needed a good long fast run, I had nothing else to do and I took a huge amount of recycling to the tip. DM had a very very old handmixer which was heating up when in use. Two Christmas's ago she asked for a new one which has been lurking in a cupboard ever since until I found it the other day. Old one out, new one in.Dp1 - I hope that you can find something suitable for DGD, sorry I have no ideas. It must be difficult for her to see others doing what she can't.AOD - You'll be cycling through the colours of the rainbows. The price of goods sounds so much more expensive in £.s.d. it's just perception. I remember being given half a crown for my pocket money, school dinners cost 11d each day so my DM gave me 1/- and I could keep the left over 1d for a penny chew.12

Morning all. Been up and at them to the opticians, result being new prescription necessary, which I knew. Cue the optician tellimg me I need new glasses. No, I don't need new glasses because the only time I wear them, being incredibly short sighted, is when I take my contact lenses out of a night or on the way way to putting them in in the morning. I don't want to feel constantly sick because of my crazy carnival glasses. I need new contact lenses, thank you very much. I think I'm feeling very belligerent today. I've already angrily cancelled one old account ith someone because of a data breach, angrily stabbing/clicking the mouse button to delete my account is not as satisfying as writing a long letter of why I'm annoyed but it'll do for today. I did have have a 'ha! stick you!' moment though. The carrot cake is oK but not that nice. My sister sent me a link to the recipe she usually uses so I clicked on that and followed it only to find later on, the link takes you to a totally different carrot cake. Oh well, it's edible and I put an orange zest buttercream on it which is odd together but nice at the same time. The diet is now not starting until the end of the week. The mushroom soup was lovely with the date/walnut loaf, which came out really well, it's the first one I've made that I can hand on heart say is nice. My usual forays into bread making have not resulted in a nice loaf until now.AOD, you poor thing, that must be so painful. And I have to sya, whenever I have any kind of ouchie, the more spectacular the result in brusies or stitches, the more pround of myself I am for surviving whatever it was, so well done
dumpling, how about next time you don't be a stubborn so and so and just go straightaway? and get well soon. And then take steps.....waggy schoolmarm finger. dp, that can't be nice for her, poor thing. Yay to the hot ladies, Nelski and camelot and Gers
Hey all reading along , don't be like me,be like the money calm bull and stay warm and safe.

Hello. I’m new to this thread. Glad @Gers mentioned the price of school dinners, because I was going to ask if my memory was right, that school dinners were five shillings a week. We had to get to school early on Mondays to queue up and buy the dinner tickets. I guess I must have had two half-crowns in my pocket, but can’t remember that bit.

If I am really quick I can post whilst it is still morning! Hugs (gentle ones) to AOD, Dumpling, Redruby, Marie and DP1's dear little GD.
I spent quite a time yesterday making a coffee cake, a GF loaf mix loaf and a GF Savoury Tart thingy, it all takes me so long these days, but I do enjoy it when things go right.
I knew the day and date today (don't always LOL), but had not remembered it being decimal day, which also makes it 50 years today since I passed my driving test. I was a young slim, vibrant 21 year old - still slim, but hardly vibrant or young anymore.
Today I have a very long list of minor chores that I am working my way through, I love crossing things off as I achieve them.
Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)13 -
Sorry to read that you're in hospital Dumpling, hope you get home soon11

Afternoon all, I'm late but I do have an excuse this time !Mr Fix It had a date with lady Dracula at the surgery this morning but our faces fell when we realised it was Slack Alice doing the bloods
That one is late before she evens gets up of a morning ! Anyway he now has an empty sleeve as she took bloods for oncology, diabetes and an annual check up. Meanwhile I rode shotgun and then sat in the car twiddling my thumbs for an hour, wish I'd taken something to read, however I did see a feisty squirrel beating up some crows
Didn't think they would attack !
I've washed his mask and put his jacket in the wm and a snack lunch has been eaten and then this afternoon I have some clean washing to sort and put away, don't think there will be much to go in the ironing basket though.I too remember decimalisation, especially the tiny 1/2p, they were always left in the dark corners of your purse. I missed the threepenny bit ( 3d ) which I was given on a Friday ready for the sweet shop visit after school. Most of the time I bought rainbow sherbert, a banana toffee bar, or 5 boys chocolate. I still don't know how much a cm is off the top of my head but I can still remember the Rod, Pole, Perchdp1 I now have episode 4 to watch of the drowning. Bless your little DGD, she's had to put up with so much in such a short time. I can't help with the sweets either but I wish you and yours the very best of luck with the problem.taff you go girl ! Sometimes you have to be the bull and not the lamb. Think I'll pass on your carrot cake. Now come on get your act of cake making together, my almost empty cake tin eagerly awaits!
Teapot 55 Hello and welcome, looking forward to get to know you.AOD hope you got some sleep last night.Dumpling sorry that you're in the hospital again, get better asap please. Hugs.NMLC that's horrible for the PTB to move the goalposts once moreSending you a hug.
bella I would be suspicious too.Gers that's annoying about the car, why didn't they tell you beforehand. Re the bread maker you shouldn't really need to oil the pan if it's non stick. Sometimes my paddle comes out with the bread but it's never burnt. Could you turn down the crust setting ?Monna you're not the only dinosaur on here. I'm another one.Right I'd better shut up now, that's the problem when I'm late, I need to say something to nearly everyoneTake care all, stay safe and keep well. Hugs to the poorly ones and animals, the worried or fed up.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Brambling - thanks for the reply - it's the Slimming World recipe I have - going to give it a try now. I've also just ordered her some fruity snacks from Amazon - they worked out a lot cheaper than buying them from the supermarket. She can still eat bananas and apples, but not juicy fruit like grapes or oranges - bless her she loves a satsuma.
Called at mam and dads for a little while this morning - I sat well away from them and we had a nice chat. I've actually got washing on the line today - don't supose it will dry but it will have some air.14
