A Rabbi and a Priest were rivals and next door neighbours. They both bought new cars on the same day and each stood beside their new car boasting about how good they were.

The Priest went indoors and came out with a bowl of water, blessed it and turned it into holy water which he sprinkled all over his new car saying, "In my religion we bless our new cars so that god protects them".

The Rabbi thought for a moment, went indoors, came out with a hacksaw and cut two inches off the exhaust pipe of his car.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Good news, and thanks for reporting back with an outcome. That's helpful to anyone reading the thread in the future, and appreciated by most forum users.
Light surface rust on a disc that has been unused for a few days is very common. A 'clunk' when setting off is normal, and the rust disappears in the first few brake applications. What can be more serious is when a car is left for weeks, and the bare part of the disc rusts more (or less) than the part protected by the pads. The actual braking surface is no longer uneven, and this accounts for the thud-thud noise as the wheel rotates. If you're lucky, this is not too severe, and the unevenness will disappear with firm braking over time. If it's too bad the discs may be beyond saving. Looks like the OP got away with it. Even so, a new set of discs isn't the end of the world. They are regarded as consumable items these days.
