how to clean up my macbook

I have a Macbook, ever since I've had it it's always been almost full. had to always delete stuff to add new stuff and so on
recently I've just sorted out and backed up all my photos, and have deleted them all from the macbook.
but for some reason, there still isn't much free space?
secreenshots attached. I don't have any photos or music on there anymore. no idea what the 83GB "other " is??
How can I fix this? If I update it or re-install it, I'm worried it will end up like an old iphone and slow down if i'm forced to go for the brand new OS or whatever it is

Try “Clean My Mac” I tried this after similar problems and it freed up masses of memory, you can have a free trial.
