Currys PC World

I had the misfortune to have worked for Currys many years ago as a TV Engineer. Back then they were owned by Dixons and the group were DSG. A good service back in the day was regarded as essential. We were at a meeting with our bosses one day and it was announced they were doing away with good service as all customers wanted was a price as cheap as possible.
So, they paid off all engineers, and passed the repair work to contractors or manufactures agents.
So how things have changed now, they will take your money and don’t care tuppence worth about good customer service. The sales staff are on low wages back up by commission on how may warranty covers they can sell.
If you are unlucky enough to require a refund on something, they will keep onto your money for as long as they can and you will have to fight to get it back.
So little wonder they do not uphold price matches.

One retailer said to me they wouldn't price match because in their terms and conditions it says they can reject a claim if it means they will make a loss on the product. Ironically, that product was also this price a couple of months ago with that retailer (Appliances Direct).
With yours, the 'in-stock and ready to ship' is a legitimate reason for rejecting a claim, but yes, they can also just reject claims which are valid, with no recourse.
Have you mentioned which retailers they are? I can't see it anywhere.
There are many who sell imported cameras, don't have stock available as they ship from the EU/Hong Kong first etc. So that may be one of the reasons. In this case, yes, they seem to be very rubbish. The two Companies I put forward were "Photospecialist" and "NextDayCamera", but they were two websites out of 15+ that had it cheaper. It was only because the 7 day period had ended, I wasn't able to put forward any more.I think what you're both telling me, is put it down to experience, Currys PC World are crooked, which it something I'd already gleaned from the enquiries I'd made up to now. I'm not giving up though. I'm sure what they're doing is illegal. Thanks to you both anyway.
Having said that, those two examples sell imported goods so not surprised they were rejected. I would agree that they would delay any correspondence to get out of a genuine one though. They are awful.
I have had some successful price match requests over the last few weeks with them. However I will never purchase anything from them again after my latest experience.0 -
As you say Ross, I remember Currys from way back and it used to have a good name for Customer Service, which is why I naively bought from there this time. It won't happen again.Back to my original point with the change of T&Cs. I'm pretty sure that many/most/all other Companies I do business with, tell me in a letter or Email that they're changing them. Anyone know if it's illegal not to?0
