This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning, bitter cold, but I think we're due for some respite.I haven't posted for a day or two because we hadn't been anywhere or done anything, apart from yesterday when we went to the tip, then called at Tosco on the way home and I did a little shop. I'm trying to get my freezer stocks down, also using stuff out of my (bulging) store cupboard.I don't think there's much planned for today, just the usual jobs I think, and we might get out for a walk.Hi Csarina, good to see you back. I used to follow your blog, I know you had to stop posting that because of trolling, pity.Thinking of Ruby and her family today, also others with health/life problems. I'll pop back later to see what everyone is up to.Take care folks.16

Morning folks, thanks for starting us off Scarlet, think that we are all in the same boat, the only place to go is shopping. Now there is rain outside, the temperature is promise to reach 8 degrees, mind you the promised dreadful weather didn't arrive yesterday.Late yesterday afternoon, about 7pm, that's probably early evening, my new compact bread machine was delivered, I only ordered it the day before so wasn't expecting it until Tuesday. My decision was based on me accepting that realistically I wasn't going to either haul out the huge Kenwood or make bread by hand. I don't normally eat bread so a little machine is perfect. That's my reasoning anyway 🤣 This morning I'll be reading the instructions and doing the pre-use process. Also, the umpteen arty items arrived in one go. The wee easel is so sweet and the paint blocks look good. I need to soak / stretch some paper, not sure of it all so will be checking online.
Now I have a mountain of cardboard to get rid of, I'll take it tomorrow.Happy Valentine's Day, it's not just for lovers. Loved ones are all around us, some close by and most further away though the love will still reach, especially to those who are sad. Even old love and past love can still wrap round us.Happy Sunday to all16 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Forecast to reach 6 deg today! The price to pay for that is rain this afternoon! The snow may finally get melted.
It's only 7.45 and I have already had a lovely surprise!! Text from DD telling me she had left Valentine's gifts on my doorstep on her way to work (early shift) Hm cards from the girlies, a cupcake, a box of vanilla fudge and a pair of Totes socks. Of course a few tears were shed. I miss seeing them all so much. Now I am two weeks on from the jab I might soon feel safe enough to resume our bubble.
Nothing else in store for today. Well what could top that! I might finally make the celery soup before it wilts and add that to my freezer soup stocks. I like to have a small selection out there. Other than that it will probably be feet up reading. Sunday Sloth.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all. Thinking of RUBY and MARIE as always. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning- just lost the post I was about to post :(mainly rubbish anyway) so I'll just wish you a Happy Valentines day if you celebrate, or Happy Sunday if not, and hope everyone is ok.Steak and sponge pud for tea. It's not as cold today thank goodness. No plans to go out other than the dog walk once DH surfaces xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)15

MorningMy teeth felt a bit sensitive after friday morning's appointment so I've been careful with food. But they feel OK today so I'm looking forward to a large helping of piping hot lasagne for lunch and a cheese and ham toastie for tea. My old George Foreman burned out the other day so I ordered a new one yesterday, it should be arriving today. Hopefully it'll be here before teatime, I prefer my toasties done on a George
I'll clean the chicken shed out in a mo and give their run a rake over. I didn't sort anything outside yesterday, I'd just dragged things out to get to the ladder when neighbour had to rush off, an elderly relative was taken to hospital. I threw things back into place – not properly, it's a right mess now, lol – and told neighbour it's there whenever he's ready. I hope his relative is OK, he's a lovely man, had covid a while back but recovered well then broke a bone in his foot so was hobbling for a while and now this.
So my day is all about food and chicken poo, lol.

Morning All
Cold, grey and damp this morning, there was snow last night but it's a bit drizzly this morning. Not going for a walk today as I think the water on top of ice would spell disaster!
Yesterday was lovely, DD and the little one came over about 9, her Daddy ran from their house to mine (13K) and arrived a bit of a sweaty mess, a shower and a good lunch seemed to cheer him up. Little one was full of fun and enjoyed a walk in the snow. She can be playing away quite happily then stops, does a forward roll and carries on playing! Anyway, their new boiler was fitted and the house all cosy when they got home.
I watched the rugby, so close but well done to Wales, I'm sure my cousins were delighted with the result.
Hope your DM enjoys her new art materials Gers and you have fun with the bread maker.
What a lovely thoughtful family you have TA.
My thoughts are with you Ruby and Marie. Hugs to anyone who wants one, take care. XX

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread ScarletRibbons.
I've spent months telling you that nothing much is happening but last evening I tripped and fell. I couldn't get up, OH couldn't help me up, my shoulder hurt too much so he called an ambulance. The paramedics gave me some pain relief, they thought I'd broken my arm but I haven't, I'd dislocated my shoulder and chipped a bone. Got home in a sling in the small hours and I'm very tired now, achy and shaky. But it could have been so much worse and the NHS staff were brilliant. So was the liquid morphine and entonox.
I might go back to bed once OH has finished his lie in. Hope everyone has a safe day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back16 -

Morning all. Apparently we can expect 5 degrees later on, currently it's 1 though, but hey,it's in the plus figures. Infusion went ok,my appointment was for 4, but I thought I'd turn up a bit earlier, turned out that was fine, and it went quite quickly, I took my kindle. When Iot home I thought, , I'll just check the fridge. Yep, frozen everything, so last night I made mushroom soup and thai inspired green curry, using up the peppers that had frozen I added a extra lot of chillies for the OH so that's his valentine present
. The carrots will make a carrot cake i think, no one can eat that many boiled or roasted ones... So today I'm making carrot cake. I may even make two...that's just how devil may care I've become...And we have some datesleft over from christmas so as the ovens on, a date and walnut loaf may be concocted from six recipes when I search for one later.
Nanny, hugs, because I can...Nelski, woop, heat and hot water! TA, how nice of them. Gers, stretching isn't difficult, it's not even fiddly, you just have to do it properly so...no pressure?AOD, how scary! I hope you're taking it easy today and not trying to feed the five thousand [ animals and birds]. You have my vote,go back to bed. On that note, stay safe out there,or even in there and tread carefully....Look after yourselves, everyone needs a pamper now and again.
