Smart meter not connected?

I just noticed my electricity meter is not counting since this morning.  Usually the lights are flashing.  Is there a problem and what should I do?

    If you have carried out some obvious checks like turning on the immersion heater for a brief period to see if the index reading is increasing etc, then you need to contact your electricity supplier as it is responsible for dealing with any meter faults.

    PS I cannot see your image. Any you talking about lights on the actual smart meter or the comms hub that sits above it?

    No your meter display itself should be incrementing. Check the reading after a few hours (not on the ihd but on the meter) and check it's increasing.
  • if you are talking about the IHD, they often don’t display overnight. Mine goes blank from midnight until 06:00. Your actual meter will still be recording any usage.

    Let’s go back to basics. Do you have a SMETS1 or SMETS2 smart meter? What model of IHD do you have? What lights are flashing (not flashing) on your comms hub? It is possible, for the link to the DCC/meter manufacturer to fail but still get usage information via the HAN to the IHD. 
    The ‘good news’ is that if the IHD is showing energy flow then this is unlikely to be a meter issue. The meter index will still be increasing which as suggested above you need to check. The memory in your meter will also retain usage information for 13 months.
  • I have just checked the meter again and it is increasing :)  May be I'm just scaring myself.  My IHD is still showing error 28 for electricity.  I have SMETS2 smart meter.  It's the middle one MESH not flashing green, I think.

    What do the indicators mean on a SMETS2 Comms Hub?

     

    On the front of a comms hub there are a series of LED indicators showing the functional status of the metering system. Each LED has a legend as shown below:

    SW - Software

    This shows the status of the hub’s software.

    WAN - Wide Area Network

    Shows your communication hub’s ability to communicate with your supplier. This light will be off if your meter is using the MESH network to communicate.

    MESH - Mesh Communications Network

    If you have a SK2 or SKU3 type of Communications Hub, then both WAN and MESH are active, and will display the slow-flash from these indicators if all is well.

    If you have a SKU1 (85% of houses do), then the MESH indicator will always be off because that section of electronics isn’t present.

    HAN - Home Area Network

    This light shows the connection status of your electricity meter, gas meter and IHD with your communications hub on the HAN (Home Area Network).

    GAS - Gas Meter

    This light tells you if a gas meter is connected. If you don’t have a gas meter installed this light will be off.

    The frequency of flashing relates to the status of the function as follows:

      - Power Up

    To allow the operator to see that all LEDs are working they are shown without flashing for a short period after power up.

      - Error

    Fast flash rate of 2 flashes per second means that there is an error. Call your supplier if this does not change after 48 hours.

      - Transient

    A flash rate of 1 flash per second means that the process is in a transient state such as making a communications connection.

      - Normal

    A slow flash rate of 1 flash per 2 seconds means that the process is in its normal state.

      - Off

    The communications hub is powered down.

  • IHD Error 28
    28 IHD is connected to your electricity meter but isn’t receiving data. If the problem continues, please contact us.
    You can check whether your meter is transmitting usage data to the DCC by going to the N3rgy.com website. All you need is your MPAN from your bill, and the GUID (the number on the bottom of your IHD). Use the ‘I am a consumer’ tab.
