Hi
I manage a website for a small charity, using Yola (free) and hosted by 123Reg. To avoid the 'not secure' notices we now need to add an SSL Certificate but, to my surprise, this will take our annual hosting cost over £100. Can anyone please recommend either a more cost effective hosting company or another way of tackling the problem?
Many thanks.

Check for a hosting company that offers something like Lets Encrypt, as that is free. I know Krystal offer this.1

Hi
easyhosting.co.uk offer a free SSL certificate will all hosting accounts.
They also offer the first year of hosting free when you register or transfer in a domain name.
So basically the cost for a whole year of hosting including domain name registration is just over £6 and after the first year hosting costs £32.67 per year.
They also offer Weebly unlimited pages web site builder free to all accounts + Installatron.
They use the same cPanel / CloudLinux as 123reg so can migrate your site to their servers in seconds.

As mentioned above, you will want to use a service called Lets Encrypt and avoid paying that £100!
If you wish to remain with your current hosting provider, you may wish to use Cloudflare. This will allow you to set a SSL certificate using their service (completely free) and it also comes with a host of other benefits. All that's required is a quick and easy swap of your name servers via 123.1 -
If its a static site (ie, not shopping cart, online stock control or database connectivity) you can host for free and get an SSL on azure for free. Requires a little knowledge to setup, and use of visual studio code to upload, otherwise as Dan says cloudflare is an option1

Many thanks for the helpful advice. I've opened a Cloudflare account, added my domain, changed over the nameservers and selected 'always use https'. It seems to have done the trick so thanks again.2
