This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Ruby - hope everything went as well as these things can, thinking of you all x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, but very cold start to the day.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night pies, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had HM fishcakes and beg. FIshcakes were made from some smoked basa fillets that needed using up and some LO mash potato - lovely they were too. Tonight we're having SM takeaway - hopefully a chinese.
Yesterday I got done what I wanted and then spent some time menu planning etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Ruby - I hope yesterday was as good as it could have been.
Deleted_User - you have been so much in a very short time which must make it very difficult to come to terms with especially as we are living under such strange circumstances at the moment - I hope you can take some time for yourself.
Not too much to report from here - it is very cold (currently -4) and windy. But the sky seems bright and the forecast is for it to warm up over the next few days.
I've just had a hoover round and done my usual mop of the kitchen floor and the hall. I have tidied the fridge and am awaiting the SM shop which should be between 8 and 9 this morning. Is it just me or do the supermarket prices seem higher than usual? I am not going out so am relying on the SM deliveries but also want to save money. I think I need to plan cheaper meals that are still nutritious and tasty! I will have to think about it and look on here for some inspiration. I do always look at the offers but the overall cost still seems high to me.
I need to change one bed and do some dusting/bathroom cleaning but nothing too strenuous! I need to give the kitchen worktops a good clean (actually move things and clean!).
Once those jobs are done then I will be back to reading my kindle and the book for this months book club. I'm enjoying it although it's not what I would usually read - I guess that's the point of a book club though!
I'm going to have porridge for breakfast and there are some cornish pasties that need using so will have that for lunch with some mash, veg and gravy. This evening can be some bread and butter or a sandwich - I'm not usually hungry by the evening but do have a habit of snacking which I need to stop!
Anyway, I'm rambling now! Have a good day all.

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Ruby, thinking of you and your family.
A again, a bitterly cold morning, temperature is -3° but with such a sharp wind that it feels lower.
I did manage a short walk yesterday, just up to the local shop for a few bits - treats for OH.
Not doing anything of interest today, or for the foreseeable future but I do have lots of activities indoors. Can't do much outside in these temperatures so I'm looking forward to spring and seeing things growing.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Morning
I hope you're OK RedRuby xx
I had check-up and hygienist appointments yesterday. Lovely lovely people but with my least favourite thing – teeth, lol. I always walk out of there feeling elated that I don't have to go again for another few months.
A bit of work has come in in the last few days, it's good to have something to keep my brain busy, it's been very lazy lately.
It's very cold here, the chicken's water was frozen so I had to sort that. I'll have to pop out there a couple more times today, it'll freeze over again I expect. Neighbour wants to borrow a ladder, it's tucked away behind various things outside so I'll need to move it all, I'll use it as an opportunity to clear out and arrange my little seating area. Not much else planned for today, just a walk with Scamp and watching last night's NCIS.

Morning folks.Another chilly start with the promise of really bad weather later. Tons of snow is coming according to the Met office. ☹️My visit to the dental surgeon was short and sweet. The two sites have healed well with a good amount of scar tissue which will hold the little posts. I'm going for another scan of my lower jaw in two weeks. The problem in my garden is semi-sorted. The neighbour who had installed the outside tap went across, luckily he had put in an isolation switch for it inside the downstairs loo so that now turned off. Part of the garden round the gap is like an ice rink, it must have been running for ages.I've ordered a load of art material for DM, proper watercolour paper, a wee table top easel, a small set of proper paints and a couple of gator boards to stretch the paper. It's a whole new world for me but if she can take some pleasure from it I'll be content. To reward myself (🤣) I've ordered a compact bread maker. DM enjoys homemade bread so this will make 1lb loaves.Today I'm heading out to the shops for the usual shopping and then being inoculated at 10.40am. I'll be so relieved as it means that I am the last of the five people who I am in distanced contact with to be done. One step closer.Hugs to Ruby. Happy Saturday to everyone.14

Morning All
Quick one from me, DD & co are coming here today as they are having a new boiler fitted, not the house to be in during this weather.
Hope yesterday went the way it should Ruby, thinking of you and sending love.
Happy vaccination day Gers. You've certainly got the baking bug!
Washing up to date, house clean and tidy although it won't be later.
Take care. XX15 -
Morning
Bitterly cold again but blue sky and no ice or snow forecast
Hopefully it will be a bit warmer in the house in the mornings once the engineer sorts the boiler. Poor love will be stuck outside sorting the leak I guess but needs must. He gave me a slot between 8-10 so can't really do anything till he's gone. The house is OK for visitors as long as he doesn't look too close
Tonight in honour of Chinese new year Im cooking sweet and sour prawns and some fried rice
Ruby hope all went smoothly yesterday x
Hugs to all15 -
Morning folks. Minus 3 here too and the wind through the night was something else. I couldn't sleep for it. Good job the snow is frozen solid or it would have been blowing everywhere. They are still forecasting milder temps from Monday at last.
So another day of same old same old ahead, going nowhere seeing no-one. A bit of pottering this morning then feet up this afternoon with head in my book. I've just got a couple of chicken breasts out to defrost as I suddenly thought I haven't had Smothered Chicken for a while and now hankering after some. That will be tonight's dinner with hm wedges. The other breast will be transformed into something else for tomorrow's lunch.
GERS I would love to be able to paint like your DM. I always think it must be so relaxing. I have all on drawing matchstick men! (Hope your vaccination appointment goes well) RUBY I hope yesterday went as well as it could but funerals for younger people are so much harder to bear. Steve sounded a lovely chap. My thoughts were with you all, especially your DM. Have the best day you can folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care, stay safe and keep warm x

Morning all. TA,AOD, weather snap! I 've put the wm, first load done, in the drier, I needa tidy pair of trousers to wear to the hospital after, it's infusion day. I made myself a cup of tea this morning, with milk from the fridge. It was a bit difficult to pour because it was frozen. The fridge is not liking sub zero temperatures in the lean to. Good job there's not much in it, but I think I'd better check the sausages. My usual trick is to buy food, put it in the fridge and if I havent used it, like sausages or whatever, put it in the freezer for another time. On the plus side, food does seem to last a lot longer in the fridge in winter so it's all swings and roundabouts.Hope he fixes the boiler toot sweet Nels, it's just way too cold to be at the mercy of elements. Ruby, hope it went accordingly yesterday. Hugs. tru, same,I hate going to dentists, I used to have good teeth but the worse they got, the less I wanted to go. Happy vaccine day Gers. TA, enjoy the smothered chicken. Nanny, hope you had a good sleep, and I can still see your house from here...want to come do mine? I've been looking at the downstairs toilet for about a week and each day I think, I must clean this tomorrow. Hasn't happened yet...Hey all reading along, hope you're tucked up safe and warm somewhere, get your cuddliest clothes on, it's a slob kind of Saturday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi15

Morning all.
Hope all is well Ruby. Today you all have to face the future, which will feel that much emptier. Lots of love to you all.
Still pretty cold here too. According to the weatherman it is 0° feeling like -4°. However, I must venture out as I have a parcel to post and a newspaper to buy. Mrs Michelineman will brave the outside world.
The rest of the day will be spent doing peaceful things in the warm. Hopefully.
Lunch will be a medley of LO bits and pieces as the fridge is looking a bit stuffed with odd plastic boxes and foil wrapped surprises. It may be a bit odd but I can't waste anything.I believe that friends are quiet angels
