I think the Police turn a blind eye as long as you are doing the actual speed limit within about a mile after the actual speed limit sign startsI think you think wrong. In any case there are some 30 stretches through villages that don't even stretch for a mile.2

Me thinks you missed the irony/sarcasm in the post...TadleyBaggie said:
What a lot of tosh. It's a well known practice for camera vans to sit just after a change to a lower speed limit and then measure the distance by pinging the sign with the LASER. This is recorded in the session log and is how they can prove a speeding vehicle had passed the speed limit sign.Stubod said:...I think its perfectly OK to approach a 30mph speed limit at 60mph and slam your brakes on at the last second possible, I think the Police turn a blind eye as long as you are doing the actual speed limit within about a mile after the actual speed limit sign starts as they deliberately position the signs a little bit earlier than they need to just in case this sort of things happens, likewise you can start to accelerate past the current speed limit about 1 mile before the actual speed limit sign increases for the same reason....6 -

....you are also probably right, (I may have miss-read the highway code), ...and I think if the actual speed limit only applies for less than a mile it is classified as advisory and you can safely ignore it?....although this may only apply to Audi drivers?
