10 years being charged 20 pound and not noticing? That sounds unrealistic. This is a losing battle i am afraid. I dont think a bank or the FOS will believe this story. It looks like he opened this account 10 years ago with the cover and has forgotten to make the changes. Very unlikely anything will happen.0

The price would have changed it would not have stayed at £10 for so long, no way.0

OH would never have knowingly signed up for duplicate insurance.
OH has asked for the original paperwork to be produced - it should be on file. He's been waiting since Oct for them to produce it.0 -

. He is asking for details of where this was set up - they claim at his branch where he opened his account which is 250 miles away as we have since moved. This has been charged for the past 10 years - I know he should have noticed this before now. He would not have travelled 250 miles to change to the different account that he is now being charged for and it appears he has been for the past decade.
What account did he have before this account was opened?
Presumably, he has been using this account so what happened to the account he had before it?
Or was his original account 'upgraded ' to the current one.?
We moved 260 miles away from our original branch but did not change branches.
Although we used the local branch all new accounts opened since then still have the original branch address on them, despite the fact that we have not set foot in it 14 years.

He's asked for evidence of this and has yet to receive anything at all in writing from the BOS which he has asked for repeatedly since last Oct.0 -

Do they have the correct address as it would be very strange for them to have never sent a letter?
You could always ask them whether they have sent any letters as they will have a copy(ies) if they have done so.
If they haven't then this could be something to use in a complaint. If they have copies and they comply with the 6/3 rule they would not need any original paperwork.
(six years from inception and three years from when you would reasonably have known about the fees. The annual fee's letter would qualify on both counts as long as they sent one at least three years ago)1 -
It would seem, from the info you've given, that your OH has, in addition to ignoring a payment of £20 monthly for 10 years, also ignored or chucked away without reading, the statutory annual correspondence about the account, to the point of denying such correspondence ever existed. Unless the bank really hasn't sent these letters - which is highly unlikely.
Are you sure he is sure of all this?
I'm not trying to belittle the situation, just raising the possibility that the fault here might not be the bank's.1 -
