Airbnb refund

Hopefully someone could give us some advice in regard to Airbnb refund policys due to Covid restrictions.

 

We originally booked with Airbnb on 11/12/2019 for accommodation only (in Spain ) on dates 16-31/07/2020 and paid 50% deposit, just over £1000.

Due to Covid and our flight being cancelled we asked for a refund 04/06/2020, they refused but said we could move our booking to June 2021, which we did, otherwise we would lose our deposit.

We now find we are in a position that travel in summer 21 is questionable at best and again asked for a refund which was refused.

Can anyone give us advice on what our options may be, or share their experience with Airbnb, because I’m sure there are many people in the same situation, Many Thanks.

If the accommodation is available in June the fact that you cannot travel there is not the concern of the Airbnb owner. 
That would be a claim for travel insurance if you were covered for being unable to travel due to FCO advice.
Any concession the owner gives is a goodwill gesture.

AirBnB seem to be taking the line that any cancellations due to Covid and the associated refund will be according to the host's cancellation policy. 

Depending on the booking and check-in dates for your reservation, you may be able to apply for extenuating circumstances travel credit but I think that's mostly for people with positive cases.
