Dishwasher prewash question

I always use dishwasher tablets and used to use the quick wash cycle. However, after a bit of research, discovered that the dishes would be cleaner and machine more economical, to use the manufacturers recommended cycle which includes a prewash. There is a prewash slot in the door of the dishwasher. On mine ( a Beko) it’s a smaller slot than the normal one. And that’s the problem. The normal tablets are too big, and if I put gel, or powder in it, it just falls out when I close the door. I’ve taken to cutting the tablets in half but it’s not really convenient. How do others solve this?

The narrow slot is probably for rinse aid. Our precast is just water sprayed around. We generally just use the general wash. If we have greasy pans then they may get a 70degC wash. Or if it’s just general drinking glasses and plates then it gets a half wash aka 45 mins1

Thanks ajmason. No, there is a separate compartment for rinse aid. There are 3 compartments altogether. I don’t generally use the half wash as I usually only put the washer on when it’s full.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
