Costco membership/warranty query

I purchased an angelcare monitor from Costco April 2020, it came with a year's warranty. I've only just started to use it in the last month properly and it's broken already. Costco have said they will refund me only if I renew my membership (I haven't done so yet as its quite far to drive and isn't essential travelling under lockdown rules). Can they withhold my refund if its under warranty as I'm not currently a member? They are not willing to offer me a repair or replacement.

Depends on the terms of the warranty. If those are that you need to be a live member, then they can do as they are doing.
You could try the consumer rights route (rather than warranty). You don't need to be a member to exercise those, but given it's 10 months old you may have to jump through a few hoops.1 -
A warranty is in addition to your consumer rights and can have any conditions it likes for anything it offers beyond those statutory rights.
You might be more successful under a consumer rights claim rather than a warranty.

Contractual rights can be an addition to statutory rights but never diminish them.0

Is Costco uk a retailer or a paid members club, thus CRA2015 may not apply ?0
-
It's a paid membership club but you can sign up and become a member without the need to be in any sort of trade or business so I don't see why the CRA wouldn't apply to all non business members.0

Online only membership is cheaper than the normal full membership. (£15 vs £33.60).
It may be worth checking if renewing as "Online only" will keep the warranty terms alive, save you having to travel & also save a few quid? Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0 -
Go to Costco and pay for the membership get the refund for the monitor as you are at Costco do your shopping.
If you have decided you no longer want your Costco membership on the way out stop at the customer service desk and cancel your membership. Costco will give back the money you paid for your membership.1
