pc connection to LCD HDready tv

Dear Experts,
I am trying to connect my HP laptop(windows XP) to my Samsung LCD(LE37R8) Hd Ready TV through VGA cable(from my laptop VGA to LCD TV VGA connection). The TV is not recognising PC connection. The PC opton in the menu selction is in grey , i.e not active while others DVD, Cable connections are active. I tried changing the screen resolution, but no luck.
Any help would be really appreciated.
