Santander frozen bank account for 17 days during a pandemic with no explanation and not allowed to access any funds for food or petrol for a key worker. Any advice for compensations will be appreciated

If they've taken this action as a result of what they reasonably consider suspicious activity then they're legally obliged not to disclose anything about the resultant investigation, so if this is the case then it's unlikely that they'll have done anything wrong and wouldn't be required to entertain any claim for compensation.Oliverbroughton said:Santander frozen bank account for 17 days during a pandemic with no explanation and not allowed to access any funds for food or petrol for a key worker. You'll doubtless argue that you haven't done anything that might be construed as suspicious but banks don't pi$$ off their customers for the fun of it so there'll be some reason why they've done this, even if not yet apparent....0 -
I'm rather confused as to why you want compensation advice and not advice on when you can access your account again30+ years working in banking5

Because it was for only 17 days and then they regained access?flo22 said:I'm rather confused as to why you want compensation advice and not advice on when you can access your account again1 -
@Oliverbroughton Hopefully you had a second account with another bank and also a second credit card.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

Inconvenience and 'sorry' compo would be around say £50.
However, if you suffered any actual financial loss, you could claim that as well (with supporting evidence). They may reply saying they had a reason to suspend your account and thus no compo but you could try.1 -
Thought that accessing the account would be your priority.Oliverbroughton said:Santander frozen bank account for 17 days during a pandemic with no explanation and not allowed to access any funds for food or petrol for a key worker. Any advice for compensations will be appreciated2
