Consumer Unit

Good evening,
Need a new CU for a development. I'm looking to go full RCBO + SPD, with 14 usable ways.
Has anyone got any recommendations for brands/suppliers around Doncaster/South Yorkshire who can hook me up? Had a look at Toolstation and Screwfix but they either don't have what I need or they're super-mega-expensive!

If it narrows things down, I do like MK & Hager gear.

  • It could save a lot of problems if your electrician supplies and fits it.

    agreed.
look at it this way, you stand to save maybe 10% by shopping around and buying direct. but then stand to looses another £50 easily if something's wrong (for example a faulty RCD, or after testing it's determined that some circuits need a smaller MCB/RBCO) and the electrician has to come back to sort it once you've got the right part

Your specification is going to be expensive anywhere. RCBOs are typically £25 each (and perhaps more for higher rated ones). You might get them for £21-22 each if you really shop around on the internet. That's £300-350 for the RCBOs alone. Add the Consumer Unit, Main Switch and SPD and you are looking at £500 minimum.

    This place looked cheap: https://www.consumerunitworld.co.uk/
They have a 18 Way Hager CU with Mainswitch and SPD for £160. Their Hager RCBOs are c£24. All prices are including VAT. There is no indication of delivery cost. On a £500 order, you should be getting it delivered for free! I have no experience of them though.

The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

These people don't seem to have all you want, but it's a start.
I added LEDs to the outlet of each RCBO. It's a way of seeing if a circuit has dropped-out, rather than waiting for the fridge to defrost.

Cheers Moss, though I don't want to quite go as cheap as no-name gear.
I've had a further look about the depths of the interwebs and for anyone else looking:
    @ TLC Direct
    £63.00 - Contactum 20 Way
    £43.20 - SPD Kit
    £15.44 - Contactum 32A RCBO
    £16.07 - Contactum 16A RCBO
    £15.44 - Contactum 6A RCBO
    Totals in at about £330.00.

conatactum gear is alright, for the price. I have fitted tons of the 10 way dual RCD boards. the actual devices are the exact same as British general but with a different name on it.
and the actual metal enclosures are far better than BG, you can get the lid back on in seconds. as opposed to BG, where you need 3 screwdrivers, 3 hands and 3 minutes of your life wasted
can't comment on the reliability of the contactum SPD , for all I know , it's just another part they sell you to make money. know anybody who's suffered from damaged electrical appliances from transient overvoltages? I don't!
