TUI Holiday Conundrum

Hello,
We've got a weeks all-inclusive booked for Gran Canaria that leaves on 8th March 2021.
Tui have cancelled all holidays until the 7th March 2021.
We can amend the holiday for free (no amendment fees) up until Monday 15th Feb 2021.
However all future holidays are coming out at well over £400 more expensive.
We are going to have to pay £300 in test costs if we are able to go on 8th March.
Is it looking likely that holidays after 7th March will be going ahead ?
Do we gamble on getting the holiday cancelled and getting a refund from TUI ?
Or change to a much later date, maybe 2022 to minimize extra costs?

It’s looking unlikely that the holiday in March will go ahead. They will try to encourage you to rebook now so that they don’t have to refund. Personally I would hang fire and wait for them to cancel. (Obviously if by some strange chance the holiday DOES go ahead, then you will have to go on it but can’t see it).1

Personally I would wait as I suspect TUI will cancel.
If they cancel you can either have a refund or take the offer of a refund credit note with a +20% uplift to the value.
I suspect they are working on a rolling cancellation basis and may update their position in next 7-10 days.
If in the meantime however you find a future holiday trip that you like without the (£400) extra - and this suits, then take up the free amendment option if you want to have a holiday booked.1 -
Yeh that's what I'm expecting. It's just the hesitancy of TUI to cancel further than the 7th. JET2 cancelled all their holidays up to April. I'm just a bit worried as we haven't got until Boris's announcement on the 22nd to make a change.
I wanted to get the general opinion on if people think holidays will be cancelled. From what Grant Shapps has said it doesn't sound likely anyone is going on holiday in March.0 -
We are due to fly in July and I’m not even convinced that will happen to be honest. Hold your nerve, TUI cancelled ours in October with 3 days notice. I know it’s hard not knowing but it’s really very unlikely this will go ahead.1

I'd give up attempting to forecast the future with regards to international holidays. Van-Tam has said pointless doing so. Media speculation doesn't help either. The current focus in the UK (and elsewhere) is to reduce case numbers and stop further mutations evolving. Schools are the first priority.DBKahuna88 said:.
