Loft Conversion

Hi - not sure if this is the right place to post but looking for some advice about getting my loft converted.
We have a large 4 bed detached (1750 square feet) and are thinking about getting the loft converted as we have child number 4 on the way, and would like a little extra room.
Dont want to move house as we like it here plus by my reckoning it would cost us 20K in agents / sols fees and stamp duty anyway.
Can anyone give some advice as to what they have paid for a loft conversion? Have been quoted 40K and about 28K so far but have no idea if that is a reasonable amount (will get other quotes)
Anything else I should consider with a conversion?

Can't help with advice but we are considering this as an option in the house we are buying. I think you 're asking one of those length of a piece of string questions, because it depends on what you want and who is going to do the work, where you live and what you choose for windows, staircase etc.
I have this bookmark because it does give some prices for specifics:
