  • great news. Congratulations and enjoy your first evening in your new Home
  • Thanks to all who replied. It was reassuring. I'm happy to say the funds were released around lunchtime and we have now just completed and about to leave to pick up the keys.

Good luck to all of you who are currently going through the house buying/selling process yourselves xx
Congratulations!! I'm sorry you had to go through such last minute stress, but I'm sure it'll all be worth it once in your new house. All the best!

When I bought my current house, it turned out that my solicitor was on the verge of bankruptcy and owed a load of money to the bank. He had a separate client account, but the bank grabbed my completion money for themselves.  Fortunately, they eventually released the funds, and we completed late but on the same day.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • congrats on your new home!!

Glad it all worked out for you

I must admit I'm surprised your solicitor didn't request the funds a lot earlier. When we moved in December 2020, we were told it was taking much longer nowadays due to Covid impacts and requested the funds about 2.5 weeks prior. For the tiny amount of additional interest this would have cost it seemed well worth it.
