Morning folks. There's more snow. All day yesterday the snow fell, sometimes in heavy showers and other times in gentle flurries. Only once did I see giant fluffy balls of snow, most times it was smaller bits.I didn't go out at all, we have no fresh vegetables in the house apart from one fennel. This is an excuse to search through the cupboard which holds umpteen tins. I'll make a dish of dauphinois potatoes for DM. She was really surprised and delighted last night when I presented her with home-made lentil soup and bread, it was worth the effort to see her face. As we are also out of cake think I'll make a lemon loaf this morning, I like it with a curd and marscapone topping. My day was punctuated by deliveries of a new pillow and a new food chopper. The chopper took me a little while to take apart and then put together because of the safety features. I couldn't make it work but realised eventually that the bowl hadn't clicked into place fully. If only I had vegetables to chop! 😂
There are a couple of things coming from Amazon today. I realised that the portable hard drive I use for backing up and copying my laptop to is rather elderly so a new one is coming. I also remember being told to back up the back up, sometimes I long for a jotter or two. Do children still use jotters at school? And cover them with wallpaper or wrapping paper?
I'm waffling. Time to go and do something useful. Keep those chins up.Happy Wednesday to all.12 -
Morning all, we have snow flurries and I have a snow headache, I'm sure both will pass.Yesterday turned out differently than I thought it would and not much was crossed off my to do list, so I must try to crack on with that today again. I had a letter yesterday inviting me to apply for my SP, well they didn't have to ask twice as this has been a long time coming ! Cue me online and trying to input the code which didn't work
Typical. We both tried umpteen times, anyway eventually himself had a brain wave and realised we were using the number 1 instead of the letter I......... doh !! All done now and I just have to wait till June.
In the afternoon DD sent us a video of the DGC cooking in the kitchen, a beef stew and a blueberry cake. She called them Gino D'Campo and Fanny Cradock and we could see why by the way they interacted with each other. Later we also had a WhatsUp video call in which DD explained her new teaching regime and the DGC told us about their new childminder as the old one has given up childminding and the less said about her the better. I wasn't amused by her timing or the way it was doneDD was less bothered but had to get on with finding another straight away, all sorted now.
Perhaps there will be no interruptions today and I can at least tick something of the listSorry for the waffle, now that's something I am good at
NMLC fingers crossed for a good result.AOD hope the car passes.taff well done to your OH, hope he enjoys his new job.Special hugs to Ruby and Bella for the tough days ahead.Sorry I have forgotten who I wanted to mention by name but have a hug anyway.Take care all, stay safe and well/sane.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Morning and a lovely freezing cold morning it is! I'm up and showered and dressed but not yet breakfasted. I have another blood test today at the hospital ready for the next infusion on Saturday today so yesterday,I decided to take the car for a run because I haven't done it, and because I didn't want to be running around if it didn't start today. Turned it over and boy did it not want to start, got it going eventually and went for a run towards Oxford so I could stop at the SM on the way back to get coffee for the OH. And then some other bits fell in my trolley. So it's either pizza tonight [ still home made base, I got the toppings in the sm] or pork shouder steaks and risotto. Today, more crochet, do you see how I'm switching this up? Jigsaw some weeks, crochet the other....And I will also put the potatoes to chit. OH loved them last year, like really really liked them, so same again this year then. Thanks for the good wishes for the OH.TA, yeah, even better was that they came to him. very serendipitous. It's kind of a closed shop in the area we both used to work in so once you're in, you're in kind of thing. And welcome to the joys of cat ownership. Not that you own her, rather the reverse
Monna, the idea of vests or undergarments that give you more insulation seems to be a more delicious thought as I get older...and it seems to get colder. Which brings me to commiserations to your OH Ruby, I only briefly stepped outside yesterday in between getting in and out of the car and it was fuh fuh fuh freezing. And hugs. Gers, how did your pillow do after? Happy cooking too. Nanny, I'm intrigued as to how Gino and Fanny got on. That's an unlikely pairing
Hey all reading along, stay as safe as you can and as well as you can, in body and in spirit...

Afternoon everyone, just had a ham sandwich and a very nice cheese scone from M and S. Little one stayed again last night as her mummy was late finishing work - she works as a carer and the roads around here were very bad because of the snow. So she pulled her hat and her wellies on over her sleepsuit about 7.30 this morning 'I ready...go in snow!'
Managed to wait till the more sensible time of 9.30 and took her out - she had a lovely time playing with some of the bigger children again and helping to build a snowman. DD picked her up and dropped me at M and S for some shopping and I then called at mam and dad's for what was meant to be a quick visit, but was longer as dad had done something to his laptop - I managed to get it sorted. He thought it might have something to do with it 'jumping' off the table yesterday!
hope everyone is managing to keep warm12 -
Taff - the pillow is good, it's certainly firmer than other pillows but then it kept its shape overnight. It's early days so it's so far so good.I've made a lemon loaf and made the curd / marscapone filling and topping. Unfortunately I opened the oven door a little too early so the cake sunk in the middle, all the more space for the topping.DP1 - what a delight your DGD is. She's at a great age. Camelot's DGD is also doing the lovely exploring.12
