O/S Daily Wednesday 10 February 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, covering of snow and bitterly cold.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roasted chicken thighs, tomato pasta bake, mushrooms and peas. Tonight will be gammon, egg and chips.
Yesterday work was ok, today we should be told what's happening next. Last day at work this week today. Have a bit of list for my days' off.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all Brrr its chilly this morning the pavements and side roads are like skating rinks luckily i am not going anywhere today . The gardner and his team are coming today goodness knows what they are going to do i am sure its too cold but hey what do i know other than that just the usual dog walking and some washing . We will probably make a start on DS room at the weekend as that is the last bit to be done before we get the estate agent in and decide wether we will rent or sell I am going to box some bits up that are in the conservatory and get them ready to take to mums when the roads are a bit better .
Hugs to all those with worries or who are unwell .
Have a good day stay safe warm and dry xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Good mnorning, and thanks for starting NMLC.Cold here, and there's more snow, and still falling.I woke up at 4am but wasn't going to get up, the house is cold, so I dozed off a bit, and it was a more acceptable time when I woke again. I had to think about what day it is, all our days are the same now, all points of reference have gone.Today I'm going to tidy kitchen cupboards and relocate some stuff - I've already started in a way, last night when I was putting some cooling racks away in my baking tin cupboard. I decided to do a sort out. I sent some pics to DD and Dil to see if they wanted anything in the way of roasting tins and baking trays, some hardly used because I don't do big roasts any more, or have big baking sessions . Anyway DD is taking it. She's also taking some shaped biscuit cutters, not that they took much room up.The cupboards aren't too bad because they were all sorted aback in November when I had new worktops, so it won't be a massive job.Yesterday I made a couple of cards to put in my stock, it's handy to have some ready, and sorted my cutting dies out a bit, Card stuff seems to be like sewing stuff - it can always stand a little tidy, mine can anyway. I can feel a sort out of my fabric cupboard coming on as well, maybe later in the week. That's it for today I think - hope everyone has as good a day as they can.Thinking of Ruby, Marie, and others who are ill, or struggling with life .Take care folks, and stay warm.15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Blummin 'eck it gets colder. We had a reprieve from further snowfalls yesterday but heavy falls are forecast for today. And a high of minus 4. Spring is a long time coming! Thoughts of a good sleep last night were short lived when Sparkle woke me up trampling all over my head at 3.30 am!! I managed to nod off again but not for long. She kept reminding me she was a starving cat and fancied an early breakfast!!
So another same old same old here. What gets done gets done and what doesn't doesn't. I am getting a bit bored of saying that. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Well done to your DH TAFF. That's quite an achievement with so many people applying for the same job these days. Thinking of RUBY and MARIE. Take care one and all and stay sane and safe x

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc. I hope you get good news today.
Yesterday's snow melted away by late afternoon but more has fallen overnight. Only a light covering but it is really cold and icy. I am staying indoors today, I'd like a walk but the paths are too treacherous. If this lot melts, I might sally forth .
Got some housework done yesterday so today can be a do what I want day. ScarletRibbons you are right, the days seem to just run into each other with no pattern. Sometimes I struggle to remember if it is Tuesday or Friday. However today I know it is Wednesday and the car is going for its MOT tomorrow and that's scary as it is 17 years old.
Hope today is a good day or at least tolerable for everyone.

Morning
Still no snowYesterday there was the smallest of flurries but on reflection it was probably someone walking past with a bad case of dandruff
Sods law the boiler is having some problems at this coldest time of the year. Its losing pressure every night so works fine in the day then has lost pressure overnight so needs sorting every morning looks like there's a leak somewhere. Im putting off calling the heating man in partly as I live in hope it will be OK every morning and partly cos an expensive repair is probably coming
No real plans as usual although there's plenty I could do if I can be bothered. Grabbed a chilli out for tonight
Have a good day all13 -
Good morning.
Very light dusting of snow overnight, very cold forecast for today, Asda delivery due 9-11 this morning, no OOS items and just 2 subs, both acceptable. Once that is cleaned and put away I may go for a walk with OH and Ddog, if it is not too slippery.
The builders came and put the kitchen back to rights yesterday afternoon, they will have to come again to change the stuck solid stop tap as we found that the one in the street is unmoveable too, water company say they will visit within 72 hours to sort it, fingers crossed.
Sending hugs and spoons to all that need them. nmlc fingers crossed for a good outcome for you today at work.
Keep safe, well and warm. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -
Morning all.
nmlc, I hope the news from work doesn't affect you badly. I bet it won't be shorter hours, less responsibility and more pay though.
ScarletRibbons, I applaud your clearing up efforts. I should really be doing the same. I also have far too many baking tins, but sods law, if I get rid of anything I'm bound to want it next week. I'm still equipped for feeding the multitude.
Nelski, I know only too well that sinking feeling when the radiators and hot water taps are only issuing something cold. And boilers are expensive things to maintain and replace. I had to have a new boiler (along with new everything else) when I moved into this house just over a year ago. I'm sure time will heal the wounds, but will never erase the scars.
I'm up for a bit more housedrudgery today. I tidied up the living room yesterday. The things I tidied out of there are now dumped in other rooms, making them even untidier. It's an everlasting shifting of the untidyness.
Wrap yourselves up everyone. Get those vests out. My children are very amused at the idea of vests, I don't think they have worn them since their school days.

Good morning all. A minute amount of snow is trying to fall here; don't know why it's bothering but it might come down harder later.
I have a Zoom session at 4pm today but nothing much planned until then. I fancy a bit of a walk but might change my mind once I get outside in the cold. One lot of washing is in the machine and we have chilli left over from yesterday to eat later so that's dinner sorted.
We currently have 6 bags of unwanted clothing sitting in the corner of the living room courtesy of DD. I think BHF are making collections in our area so might make contact and see if they will pick them up.
Have a good day everyone.14 -
Morning All
More snow overnight, it looks so pretty but only saying that because I don't have to go anywhere, work is cancelled today. It's an in-service day so not much going on anyway, it's great to have such an understanding boss. The delivery to work yesterday didn't arrive whilst I was there, it was a long, slow morning. I called at DD's on my way home and took the little one for a wander in the snow.
Bella, you're doing well with the house.
Congrats to your OH taff.
Hope you're ok Marie.
Hugs to you RR.
I've just spoken to DS1 in Perth, he's snowed in with the children, they were meant to go to their Mum's yesterday but they are stuck, DS1 lives in the middle of nowhere so even if he could navigate the drive the road hasn't been cleared yet.
Have as good a day as you can, take care. XX

Morning all
Bitterly cold here and we have some snow coming down but not enough to lay I dont think, although the sky looks full of it. DD has gone into work for a meeting so its just me and big pup today, I cant walk her on my own as she is huge and if she pulls I dont have the strength in my arms yet to deal with her so we will wait for dd to get back and go together.
Got to make a call today and let them know what music we want for the funeral, my nephews have suggested one and my sister and I picked one each, I had an emotional time last night listening to them, its still unbelievable that he has gone.
I need to have a tidy through this morning, my cupboards need sorthing and cleaning but I cant react the top ones yet as I dont have full range with my arms so they will have to wait a while longer.
Pork chops tonight with mash veg and gravy nice and warming for when OH gets in, he has been working in an unheated house and comes home cold to the bone each night.
Taff well done to your DH xx
Have good days all xx13
