Southern Water default Experian

I just checked my credit file and Southern Water have recorded defaults in 2019-2020. I paid 6 months upfront then made monthly payments and set up a DD. They never advised me I was in any way behind with payments. In fact I thought I was ahead. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Is it correct that they can record into CRA without telling you that you are inadvertently defaulting? I suspect that if I had have had a live DD they wouldnt have marked the default. I dont like DDs and only last week had to contact Southern Water as they messed up, which they acknowledged

  • If you’ve been paying your bills on time then the default must be wrong so raise a complaint and give them a chance to rectify it

Are you saying that they failed to draw on the DD, although it was still active?

What do you mean when you say you made monthly payments and set up a Direct Debit, were your monthly payments not sufficient to cover your usage and as you mentioned later about a "live DD" does that man you cancelled the Direct Debit?

If you are behind on your payments then recording a default is correct.
