I can’t understand why anyone pays over entering the free way via phone, but there obviously must be so so many 

why do we think this is? Do people not realise it’s free by phone?

Pay routes are frequently promoted on air and the website, 100 entries for £30 (normally £20)  takes almost no time compared to 100 phone calls so the more value you put on your own time the more attractive the pay route becomes. (I don't enter either way)

Also they tend to say things like: quick grab your phone and text WIN to 12345, don't delay do it now.............see online for T's&C's ...... and free entry route.
By which time they've stopped listening and have already sent a text!
