Makes no difference when the lines reopen the databases for each days calls are easily kept separate and required to be for audit purposes. Even when the studio have been given the chosen number they can call when it's convenient for them. THE ONLY CERTAINTY IS THE CALL WILL BE MADE AFTER 3PM AND BEFORE THE RESULT IS ANNOUNCED/PLAYEDjaydeetee said:
The lines open for new calls at 3.10 so I think that it would not be legal to be making calls to a potential winner from 3.10. All I have read over the long running of this comp is that calls are made at about 3.05. On the odd occasion they call others following a non winning call there is plenty of time to do this before 3.10pate-ci0 said:
There has been much discussion re. this previously and different incarnations of the comps may differ, but general opinion is that if you have not been called by 3:15-3:20 it is unlikely (but not impossible) that you have not been selected. The call is (most likely) recorded for editing before transmission but until it is played on the radio it could be possible that you might, just might, still be called.swan22 said:Any idea what sort of timeframe can ring after 3?
It may well be made earlier in the available time slot but if I entered I certainly wouldn't choose to answer the phone at 3.12 with "hello" (I have seen it mentioned somewhere a winning call after 3.15)

I've seen people report a call at 3.14pm before. I think my last one was 3.08pm.
Thank you all who post.2 -
Just got 60 in. Do we have any previous winners in this thread? i also keep wondering how many people they have entering per day. it must be a lot to be able to offer such big regular prizes but no idea.2

I’m not a winner myself but a someone at my friends work won this year. They all enter every day. I think he got the call at 3.08.beardedsalmon said:Just got 60 in. But if I start making calls for the next days entries when the lines open at 3.10 (as I sometimes do) I wouldn’t be able to receive the incoming call. My call would show as engaged. I really do believe that would be something that shouldn’t/wouldn’t happen. But what do I know.mjm3346 said:

When I won a Hits Radio comp a few years ago, the call came just before 3:20 from a withheld number. Even though the lines are open from 3:10 for the next competition, the winning call could come later than that; as far as the radio stations are concerned, it is up to us to be available to receive the call regardless of the time, so long as it is within the times mentioned in the rules. (This might explain why some winning calls get the number busy/unavailable/dropped reply even though most mobiles will tell you if there is an incoming call while you are already on a call)jaydeetee said:

You could be engaged for any reason (personally I think using the phone before a winner has been announced is taking an unnecessary risk) don't forget it's to their benefit if you are engaged and not an issue for paid web entries and not much of one for paid text entries either - the times the lines re-open doesn't have to have any impact on the time they call. The only things for certain are the call has to be made after the lines have closed and before the result is announced.jaydeetee said:

"After the lines close at 3pm each weekday, we pool all of the entries from SMS, online and phone into our Winner Picker software. One entry is selected completely at random and then passed to our presenter in the studio to make the call.
There is not a precise time as it can vary due to a number of reasons but it always happens after 3pm and never before the lines close at 3."

42 phone entries this time for Monday.
If the prize increments remain regular, it suggests that Friday 22nd December will potentially be a £250,000 prize in time for Xmas, most likely a guaranteed winner where they continue calling until someone answers correctly6 -
There was actually a bonus comp today ending at 5pm, according to the Make me a winner FB page. I missed the deadline, but I think it was an online only comp.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £18,886.272
