Sometimes they don’t play the call until about 15:40, depends on the station you’re listening to.

I've seen various past winners on this forum tell what time they received the call, from about 15.07 to gone 15.20. So I'm ready for the call from 15.00 and always give it until 15.30 before making any outbound calls, just in case. Especially on guaranteed winner days as they could get multiple non-qualifying calls before someone actually says "Make me a winner!".

The number is selected (which is after the competition closes) and is passed to them to make the call whenever they like (which only has to be before they announce the result)

My thoughts too. Why reopen the lines at 15.10 and then try to call a potential winner at 15.15 when they may well be back on the phone trying to re-enter.

I take the view that it is up to the competitor to make themselves ready and available for the competition; the promotors make the rules and run the competition according to their schedule and not the competitors. If someone is on the phone when the call is made, too bad, they lose. If we are aware the call could be made at any time, it is incumbent on ourselves to ensure we are ready to take it, however inconvenient that may be for us, since the promotors really do not care who wins. If we don't like it we should not enter.

If someone is on the phone for any reason when they call it's a rollover which benefits Bauer - no prize money to pay for that day and a bigger prize on offer the next day for almost no extra money - it's also not an issue for paid for entries (don't need to be using the phone for web entries and people generally can manage to answer their phones while composing a text). The only certainty is the call should be made after the competition closes and needs to be made before they announce the result (briefly pausing the entry period provides clear separation for any entries made around 3pm) - the number chosen is passed to them to make the call whenever they like. (maybe between 3 and say 3.30 make no outgoing calls and any nonwinning incoming ones need to be got off the line asap)

Well done that lucky person.  Finally someone who answered the phone!
I listen to Absolute radio, enter every day by phone. Don't let my phone out of sight between 3 and 3.30pm. Absolute play the winners call quite late, at least 3.45pm at the earliest.

Anyway I'm glad someone has won today, wish it was me 🤣 I was beginning to think the whole thing was a scam, but I do know someone in my town that won last year.  So it is real and people do win. 
I get so annoyed with the 'hello's' tho. Grrr😤🙂
