What can benefit savings be spent on?

Question: is this excess cash a lump sum backpayment? If so, there are disregards but you need to tell us exactly how much you got and how much of any other savings you have as to whether they would question any, some or all of the £8000.fred376 said:I don't know if you are on benefits or not poppy but you don't seem to realise how hard we have to fight to get benefits and stay on it. Many of us have to appeal. I think its reasonable to spend our hard earned money on whatever the law permits. It's none of your business.
£8000 for a watch, for someone on means-tested benefits, will never be viewed as reasonable spending. I doubt a watch costing any 4-figure sum would be, let's be honest, but whether or not it's questioned depends on your situation.
(Also LOL condescendingly explaining life on benefits to one of our resident experienced experts - any time spent on this board and you would know very well poppy speaks from ample experience. Benefit of the doubt though, maybe you genuinely didn't know. Now you do.)4 -

Except that you haven't earned it, you've been given it. Besides, you might want to save your money in case you need to do any repairs to your bridge.fred376 said:I don't know if you are on benefits or not poppy but you don't seem to realise how hard we have to fight to get benefits and stay on it.
