    Good grief!
But regarding deductions, see my post here:

You mentioned blacked mastic around the bath. Was this like that when you moved in? If not, then it seems fair enough to pay for it to be cleaned/replaced.

The £42 for the curtain pole is reasonable. You are lucky this is all they are charging as they could also charge you for the cost or replacing it with one the same as the old one.

I would agree to the £40 (bathroom - if black wasn't there before) then £42 curtain pole and see if the DPS will release the rest.

Perhaps tell the landlord to return all but £82, but if he wants to take it to the DPS you will contest all but the £42 as the check out  inventory and photos show bathroom was clean.
    Hi pinkshoes,
Yes I agree with you on curtain poles charges but not the bathroom cleaning.
Regarding to your comment about my English which I found it racist and unnecessary. I would like to tell you that I speak different languages which is something I am proud of. Furthermore the purpose of my post was to get some advice on the issue I have not to receive abusive comments about my English. Thank you.

Did you really use an old broken toilet seat for 2 years🤢
Yes as the landlord was not interested in any repairs or maintenance other than the yearly safety gas and electricity which is compulsory.
Did you not think at some point "Ah, sod this. If he won't, I'm not putting up with it..."?

Change from a tenner, and a couple of minutes basic tool use.

But then the landlord would charge them £42 for changing the toilet seat without permission.

I think we all know the chances of them getting that past the deposit arbitrators.

The post about English wasn't aimed at you, it is part of her signature so it posts after every post she makes.

I disagree. this is normal wear and tear and any reasonable LL would rather change the seal themselves to make sure it's done correctly than to let tenants do a possibly sub-standard job. either way, a tub of silicone costs what, a fiver?
Rubbish, I have been in my house for going on 7 years and the mastic around the bath is as white now as when it was first done. All that's needed is to wipe away any soapy water after a bath or shower and you wont get the mould.
