Surveyors Report - Many errors

  • On the last survey I had there were some 'errors' like referring to the front garden when it was a terraced house directly onto the street. I think about 90% of the blurb on any survey is cut n paste stuff that's so general it isn't really worth taking any notice of - like the standard disclaimers about getting gas/electrics/water services checked.
It's anything stand out that needs more consideration and probably further specialist investigation. In this case the fuse board is clearly very dated and should be upgraded, and the conservatory sounds like it may have been a dodgy DIY job, although if its still standing and you're happy with it then why 'upgrade'?
I would query the obvious 'errors' like reference to the windows/cupboards and see what the surveryor says about that. The other stuff is their opinion and of course the vendor is going to disagree - nobody likes any kind of negative feedback on their home, especially when trying to sell it to you!

I have to say that I rarely notice anything in other people's houses. Ok I try hard when looking at something to purchase, but i never notice people's colour scheme, windows, carpet colour etc, so when I'm looking for something to buy I'm off to a bad start already.
There's a world of difference between not caring whether Auntie Sarah's carpet is beige or taupe, and not noticing whether the chimney on a house you're considering buying is spalling badly or the front door is plastic or timber.
