Selling on Etsy

You are so lucky to have a craft! That would be my dream, to find something I can make well and make a profit on. Good luck!soolin said:In my case this is a handcrafted item so although virtually the same, prices vary between £6 and £80 and I can make as many as I want. I sell them on ebay for around £8 and the same on facebook . I can see no reason why some are changing as low as £6 and as high as £80 , but looking at the listings I suspect that the cheaper ones are like me and can make them virtually to order in a very short time and have bulk purchased the equipment cheaply , whereas the expensive ones are made by newer crafters who spend a lot of time, and have to buy higher priced individual ordered parts - and then price up a very high 'wage' for themselves as well.0 -
It isn't particularly exciting and it is a niche (although there are probably a couple of dozen listings in the category on etsy) it is also a very miniscule part of my sole trading income. It won't make me a fortune, but it might cover the occasional bar bill if we are ever allowed back in the pubs.LondonZ17 said:

I'm the same, mine makes £1000 profit a year on a good year. I'm very good at spotting bargains and do enjoy wearing them but resell them when I'm tired of them. I'm a bit of a shopaholic but the things I buy tend to be worth more than I pay for them, or else keep their value well.soolin said:

Only works once you've found a sold listing, of course. I've only needed to look at sold listings from certain sellers (i.e. ones that do specific items) so I don't know of any other way than trawling through an individual seller's sales history. Though photos from reviews can help you see some things at a glance.1 -
I also want to start selling on Etsy, but I was very surprised when I saw that for start to sell, you need to pay

I just had my a/c banned with no reasoning after appeal - I spent quite a bit of time, effort and money (subscriptions/software etc) to put my store together. To say I'm unhappy is an understatement - esp when I see others doing basically the same as me with far inferior products yet they're still operating. Hmmm.nickwong said:I also want to start selling on Etsy, but I was very surprised when I saw that for start to sell, you need to pay
I'm now looking to do the same thing elsewhere. I also buy quite a bit off etsy and won't be doing so anymore and take my custom elsewhere as matter of principal, esp when they won't even tell me the reasoning behind the ban.0 -
I didn't have to pay to set up a selling account on etsy, are you sure you haven't opted for extras as they do offer extra bits and pieces at a cost. The listings do cost though if that's what you mean, 20 cents a go (about 16p) , I don't think I've ever seen any free listings like on ebay.nickwong said:I also want to start selling on Etsy, but I was very surprised when I saw that for start to sell, you need to pay
