first death dual names policy

just a quick question if anyone can help?
I Have a Zurich life insurance policy in place for over 15 yrs with Myself and previous Partner (ex) named on it. 
my issue is it pays out on first death. however i split with my ex 8 yrs ago. and i wanted to remove her from this policy. Zurich are saying i cant remove her.
Am i at any point able to remove her or should i just restart a new policy elsewhere and end the Zurich one.
i have private pension also with zurich and am considering moving that as well.

It's not possible to have a joint life policy simply rewritten. Cancelling it seems the most appropriate course of action.

Most policies do have a separation clause which enables you to remove a partners name if you split (different insurers have different criteria for this).  Unfortunately, this normally has to be actioned within a few months of the split occurring so at this point there's little option but for you to arrange new cover.

If you are in good health then you might as well lapse the policy and apply for a new one that suits your current circumstances.
