Dryer and replacement both broken after two months...

Hi,
I bought a pump heat dryer in October from AO.com and by December it had completely stopped working. I arranged for the Hoover engineer to visit and he said that the control board needed replacing and the model was so new that the part didn’t exist in the system and might take a month to arrived. Consequently he recommended back to AO that they replace the dryer.
Two months later and the new dryer has experienced the exact same issue. AO have sent Hoover out who have confirmed this but the part is now available to order for next week.
I’ve gone back to AO because I don’t believe it’s just my bad luck and surely there is an issue with the machine itself. I don’t want the repair and I don’t want a replacement. I would prefer a refund or exchange to a different brand or model. Both engineers have independently recommended I get a normal condenser instead of a heat pump. AO have so far pushed back on my suggestion.
So my question is, do I have to accept the repair or am I within my rights to be expect a refund or different model? It is within 6 months of the initial purchase but I’m finding the guidelines a bit vague so would appreciate confirmation on my particular scenario before I go back guns blazing 😄
Thank you!

Outright rejection rights ended at 30 days. You've already given them one chance to repair, and that failed (i.e. the replacement failed,) so now you can exercise your rights under CRA 2015 to a refund.
These aren't 'guidelines': they are your statutory rights.
Heat pump driers are perfectly reliable, and much more economic: the problem is that you bought a budget Candy machine. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I’ve spoken to them today and Hoover tried to get away with offering me £20 as a good will gesture to accept another repair.
Obviously didn’t accept this so AO are going to replace it with whichever model I want, which I am happy with as their customer service has been pretty good so even if I pushed for a refund I’d probably get the next one from them.
I didn’t realise Hoover was so cheap to be honest, £400 doesn’t seem cheap but definitely lesson learnt and I shan’t be buying them again!Thank you0
