Number plate law

Ah so that explains what that guy on Facebook was waffling on about then as he said the same thing you did regards time.
I suspect it comes down to what advertisers (or whoever) call it. It may be technically wrong but if they all market it as 4D then that must be what 4D number plates are known as.
Its like when an old person would refer to CDs as tapes still when they started coming through. It's like when people refer to someone's skin colour as white or black.
None of it is technically right. A tape is a tape, a CD is a CD, I've never seen anyone with white skin before etc, yet we all know what is being referred to so we just accept it and respond without forever being pedantic.
I'll post the pictures later.0 -
Ok so for clarification...NOTE: I am not arguing the toss that they are or are not 4D. I couldn't actually care less what they're called. I did wonder myself what made a plate 4D when they just looked more raised than the pressed plates. It was more 3D to my eyes but i don't actually care. All I did was decide that if that's what they're all advertised as then for the sake of searching and purchasing, that is what they're called. If i was looking to buy one, i wouldn't be so awkward as to refuse to search for a 4D plate because in my eyes they're not 4D. If they're marketed as 4D from a good number of sellers and sites then that's what they're widely regarded as.0

I don’t believe anything in the changes makes these illegal.I have them on 2 cars very durable.OP is likely referring to these https://www.numeroplates.co.uk/-1

"4D" plates remind me of my first ever CDT project when I was 11.

They look like dirt traps, especially on any horizontal lettering, T or E for example and and looped letters like O or D. Seem like a waste of money.0

scrappy_returns said:Seem like a waste of money.Like anything though isn't it.You get those people who spend a chunk of their day slating people who have private plates. What a waste of money. So on and so forth.I'm sure a number of these people smoke. To me that is even more stupid because not only is it a waste of money but it's terrible for your health. But who cares what I think right? These people enjoy sucking on those cancer sticks so let them go ahead and do it. So long as they're not doing it round me then who cares.Likewise, if I choose to get a private plate or 4D plates (or whatever someone wants to call them after they've finished arguing the toss) then I'm not harming anyone so who cares.0

4D plates are legal. What is not legal are the ones that have a different colour behind the raised up acrylic letters. Mine are solid black and therefore fully legal.

Oh and I saw a 21 plate car with EU GB plates on, sure that's not legal.0
