Current Account Switch - Direct Debits

I see HSBC are offering a new Switch incentive - one of the criteria is that two Direct Debits must be carried over / set up. I have a Current Account I could switch from, but there are no payments set up through this as it's not my main day-to-day account.
Does anyone know what is deemed as a Direct Debit and what would be the easiest way to take advantage of this without changing payment methods for DD payments on my main account? E.g. If I set up for money to be sent from the new HSBC account to a savings account once a month, would this be classed as a DD?

A direct debit is a direct debit. If it appears under the "Direct Debit" section in your online banking, it's a direct debit.
The switch offer allows standing orders to be used, which what you're describing setting up is almost certainly going to be, but you need to set it up to debit your current, current account as if it isn't switched over you won't satisfy the criteria for the bonus.2 -

Set up 2x £1 (as you like) Standing Orders (acceptable DD alternative for latest HSBC switch) from the ac you're planning to switch to another account in your/your sibling/wife and/or girlfriends' etc name.
Why SOs? Because they can work in a day; DDs will take 10-14 days to be taken.2
