Part exchange partners vehicle

Hi

I currently have a car which is in my partners name. I used to have a couple of defaults on my credit report so I couldn’t get a car in my name. I’m now in a position to get a car in my name but there is still 14 months to run on my current car. Will I be able to part exchange the car that is in my partners name against a new car I want to buy in my name. We both live in the same house which we bought together. There is outstanding finance on the car which is in my partners name.

Thank for any help you can all provide

There shouldn't be any issues with that.  Your partner may need to attend and sign a form.
It's a very regular scenario for car dealers.

The car is your partners, not yours, and the finance also in their name so you will need to have them present to be able to do it as legally you're not entitled to.
