Faulty Cooker

Hello. I bought a brand new Cooker, online, from Currys on 31.01.2021. This was delivered on Saturday 06.02.2021. When we used it on Saturday we noticed it was behaving oddly. We've contacted the manufacturer today, to check if this is normal or a fault. They have confirmed it is a fault in the product. They have advised us to take this up with Currys, which we knew we would need to do. However, we're struggling to understand exactly what our consumer rights are around replacement vs repair. Personally, we would prefer a brand new replacement, rather than a repair but we'd like to be sure of our rights before we contact Currys. So, under our consumer rights, can we insist on a replacement rather than a repair, even if Currys insist on a repair? Thanks for your help. Chris & Joanne

Within the first 30 days you are entitled to reject a faulty item for a full refund, other than that you can't insist on a replacement over a repair although I imagine most retailers would be happy to replace rather than the prospect of a refund and you taking your business elsewhere.
Even though you've got verbal confirmation of the fault from the manufacturer directly Currys may insist that they actually get someone out to confirm.1 -
Thanks for the quick & clear response. I like the point that the refund could be leverage for a replacement.0
