Paperwork

Firstly , apologies if I am in the wrong section but I don’t know where to ask this .
Over the past 20 years I have had various store cards , credit cards then a debt management plan , several bank accounts and a mortgage . I have kept various files with all the paperwork from these accounts but having never needed any information from them could I dispose of these .
Currently I have 6 bank accounts and a mortgage which I hope to clear in the next 3 years , no credit at all . Moving forward we will want to move house , possibly requiring a mortgage but this won’t be for at least 5 years . Will it speed things up if I keep all the paperwork to answer any issues regarding the mortgage or will the time passed make it irrelevant ?
Again many thanks for helping and I can answer any questions regarding dates if needed .

you should only keep the important paperwork E.G Mortgage Statements Debit Management plans Last 12 months Bank Statements Credit Card statements (Last 2-3 years) less if all paid off.

The rest you could scan to your pc then shred them,
For a Mortgage you will need last few months to a year worth of statements..

So any that you have now will be worthless to them in 5 years time,
