Bye Bye Albania

Just had to cancel my trip with BA next month - ninth such time in the last 6 Months !!
All I've got left is Etats Unis  in Mid- May.
Unfortunately that is booked with TUI and if I don't want to lose a monkey going to have to handover the balance north of 2 bags in a couple of weeks time.
Why didn't I follow my own advice and book with BA  :'(

TUI have cancelled all USA Trips (Florida) till the end of April.....
The trip is now £600 cheaper if booked today.....
What's not to like :(

Had I booked with BA would only have fronted up £300 with the balance being due late April. Up till that stage I could have cancelled and had a voucher with no further repercussions .

If TUI do cancel got a feeling I will have to retrieve my "chargeback file" unless they exceed my expectations and refund within 14 Days.

I think you will find that TUI have caught up and are now very responsive to requests to refund on cancelled holiday packages.

I was looking on the news channels to see whether Albania had been invaded!

I am still holding a RCN from TUI for a cancelled holidays from last May.  Relaxed about them holding the funds at the moment. In fairness to TUI they regularly email to remind me of the credit (and the +20% uplift in value) and tell me that I can have a refund at anytime and how to request it.   Friends cashed their RCN, dealt with quickly and money back 3 days later.

TUI is being bailed out by the German Government amongst others. It's large group operating in over 100 countries. There's a lot at stake if it were to fail. Many thousands of employees.

Butts, get yourself down to Albania at some point, instead of Tirana, I'd definitely recommend somewhere like Ksamil, although you'll probably need to rent a car/use a taxi for this. This photo is from August.

If you do this, note that the BA flight arrives quite late (it was on the ground at about the same time as my Belavia flight, so about 8pm), but as the drive from the airport is around 5 hours, Wizz (getting down to Luton from Scotland using Easyjet) have a 2am arrival, effectively giving you an extra day in the country.

The above photo is around 30km from Corfu (but with the sea in the middle).

Well yesterday TUI gave me a get out of jail free card !!!
The Hotel forming part of my package will be closed on our arrival date of May 17th so they shifted us to another Hotel and gave the option of a Free Cancellation and Full Refund if that did not suit.

It's all probably pretty academic as I doubt the Holiday will go ahead anyway.

But I got in ahead of the probable mass cancellations when the Government revisit Foreign Travel Advice early next month and cancelled.

As @westin alluded to their refund procedures have improved markedly and I was able to cancel online with a full refund due within 14 Days.
