Morning all
We have had the lightest dusting of snow just around he edges, the roads are clear which is good, we are due more this afternoon and tomorrow so it might settle, I do hope so as I love snow and want to take the dogs to the park and watch them play.
I had a bad night was awake from 3 till 7 so might need a nana nap later, easy dinner of roast leftover from yesterday I sent another one home with mum to save her cooking today. I ordered her a new walking stick last night as hers is breaking and not safe.
I need to ring the funeral people today and see when we can drop the clothes off for my brother and ask about flowers. we are only having two bunches as a whole, as dd and I have said we will pay for the order of service instead.
TTC I hope your DF is ok xxx
have good days all xx15 -
Hello all, no snow here only that bitter wind, one of those that will cut you in half.I've got such a busy day today, make a loaf, hoover and dust the lounge and put the bins out for tomorrows collection. Phew ! so much for one day, I really should pace myself
Tea will be some lo rice and lo chicken made into something hopefully tasty, there are plenty of spices available and I can rustle up a sauce.
We bought our house in 1992 and paid the mortgage off not long after Mr Fix It was diagnosed with cancer. We felt such a relief knowing that I wouldn't be left without a roof over my head if the inevitable happened quickly.Right must make a start on my busy, busy day. I will have to dress up like Nanuk of the North later, just to put the bins out and the recycling box will have to be netted or the contents will be strewn down the road.Take care all, stay safe and keep well/sane.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Morning all! I did start writing something yesterday but then gave it up as a boring job with nothing to say..Blimey it's brass monkeys today, minus 2, which means the fire is about to be roaring away. Oh put bricks on it last night to keep it in, good job too. I've emptied the bucket of ash in the garage into the big bag, I have no idea what to do with it now I've spread enough all over the garden. Then back in to empty the tray into it.Nanny, I cba to send back the wool so I decided to make a lightweight poncho for when the weather actually warms up a bit.I am following a pattern but when the next lot of wool comes, I'll be striking out with my own idea. Like a square with a slit in it for your shoulders but with an added swoop of wool to fix to a big shoulder button. It's keeping me occupied along with watching an old series of which I have only seen two series, there are three more to go which I never knew about. And I wish the next door enighbours would net their bins. The way the houses are, all their rubbish blows into our garden so we get the joy of putting it in our recycle bins. It's just thoughtless. tru, I'm with you on the resident alien, it's so funny. Love his cung cung...bella,know how you feel, I'm still dreading going back to empty the various sheds in wales, but the lockdown has put that off for me. Rosy, be gentle to yourself. It must be so draining. Nelski, your soup sounds nice and warming. AOD, spot on description of green tea...made me laugh. Ruby, thinking of you. Gers, same as, I've just booked myself into the otpicians for an eye test and new lenses, it'll be the first time since a year lasy May. I desperately need new ones, they get blurry really quickly but I wasn't feeling safe enough to go in to a shop so close to someone else. Hope you're all coping, even if not marvellously. There's always here to come and have a virtual chat anywayNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Morning folks- hope you are all well and staying safe. Thanks so much for the get well wishes. Yesterday was the 1st day I really felt like eating a proper meal, scrambled eggs in the morning and chicken dinner later. Smaller portions but it's a start and I enjoyed it & it didnt taste horrible ( def a bonus
) DH and I took the hound to the park this morning, it was freezing but she enjoyed her roll in the sprinkling of snow, and it's one of those crisp sunny days- definitely more cheering than the endless rain we've been having.
Yesterday we were signed off from the blood/oxygen monitoring service our town has provided, and a nice man came to pick up the oxygen monitor. I told him how much we appreciated the service, and the regular phone calls, left us feeling not so alone. Not much going on, neither of us have much energy yet but at least we're on the right track thank goodness.I've not caught up on the news recently but hope everyone is doing ok, please take care xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Good morning everyone
Cold cold cold here but no snow thank goodness. Another boring day ahead but at least we are warm and safe so there is that to be thankful for. Steve is changing a plug socket as the tumble dryer plug blew up last week. It was very traumatic for me as I have a massive fear of fire especially through tumble dryers etc. Anyway, we have a new one arriving Wednesday so the washing that has been piling up can be done and dried.
Steve made an amazing roast dinner last night with leg of pork as the star attraction. There is still a piece of pork left over so I will have to think about what to do with it for dinner, probably a sweet and sour.
I am so hungry today, I think it's the cold weather telling me I need to fatten up and hibernate. I am sure I am part bear although I have more in common with Winnie the pooh than a grizzly although Steve might beg to differ.
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to, take care xx13 -
Tru, snap we paid off our mortgage last week. It only had a few months left but the interest rate on it was really low so that even with the rubbish interest rates on savings it was more cost effective to keep the money in the bank. Anyway, I'll be interested to see if we get any deeds, when we paid off the Yorkshire house we only got a land registry notification and when we rang the bank they said that they hadn't got any deeds. I'm sure they must have had them and I feel sad that all that history has disappeared. This house was built in the 70's and has only had two owners so not much history to it but the Yorkshire house was built in the mid 19th Century for one of the many railway companies they had in those days.
Steve is 65 today, his occupational pension reduces by the amount he would have got a state pension years ago but of course he now won't get the state pension for a couple of years, it seems wrong somehow. I'm going to make a victoria sandwich this afternoon as he loves them.
L & B have decided to stay here till April now (they had thought about going back this week}. There is nothing for them to go back for and they have managed to get a break from Esben's nursery fees, they don't want him to go back until things are a lot better.13 -
Nelski - I am in Kent - you can have my snow. We usually do the weekly shop on a Monday but not today.
-taff - poncho sounds interesting.
