Electric scooter purchase

Hope someone can advise me. My son placed an order for an electric scooter on 21st May last year. He bought direct from the company paying with his debit card (£333). After it arrived he put it together & was able to ride it about 4 times. It just didn’t have any power, when fully charged it would only move a few feet. He left for a few weeks but later in August he contacted the company to explain about the lack of power & that he had only used it 4 times. They replied promptly with apologies. My son was then asked him to fully charge & check with a multi meter etc., this he did. On the 7th October I emailed to advise that we had done all the checks & that there was still no power. He was then advised on 13th October to pack up & return. He still had original box so I packed it well & took photos...just in case. They suggested a carrier, which I arranged at a cost of £33. On the 20th October the parcel was collected & I emailed the company to advise dispatch. On the 11th November they confirmed that the scooter was in the inspection queue. Then we waited & waited with regular emails chasing repair etc. On the 15th December they replied to my email to say the scooter had been inspected & a report sent, had I not received it! Obviously not. It was then sent & the fault was found to be the battery, which was only 7v. Battery was replaced for, but the throttle cable was broke & I would have to pay £15.72 for a new cable. They said it must have got broken in transit. I paid this before Christmas. I am still waiting for the scooter, they also refused to refund the £33 carriage. My son says the company has now had the scooter longer then he had it. So he wants a refund, how do we stand? It had 6 month guarantee. Sorry such a long query. Many thanks

So bought in May used 4 times then left till August......if i bought it I would have complained straight away in May1

It was bought from Scooter City, Salford. Yes I know he should have read their reviews, as they are dreadful. So many people seem to have the same treatment. He ordered the scooter 21st May, not delivered until after the 9th June. Yes he should have complained sooner, I agree, but youth & common sense do not always go hand in hand!0

6 month guarantee . is this a second hand machine ??

That's the warranty that the shop offers on all products. They seem to sell cheap, no-name, generic, Chinese rubbish which probably doesn't have a manufacturer backed warranty.JJ_Egan said:6 month guarantee . is this a second hand machine ??

Neilmcl, yes you are quite correct. If you look at their reviews so many buyers have not had a good experience.0
