Debenhams Car Insurance

Options
Have just done a preliminary search on comparison sites and Debenhams came up about 100 cheaper than Go Skippy (which usually seems to be cheapest) and 200/50 lower than the next batch which are reasonably close. I've had a look to see what's happening with the insurance arm and I can't find anything definitive. What would happen if I took this out and the insurance business went under... I'm guessing it would get bought up or would have something to do with the underwriters? Just seems like there must be a reason it's going so cheap...

I’m not sure but most likely it’s not actually
Debenhams who look after the insurance. Having sold insurance for a retailer before it was basically another company that handled al the policies and when we went under nothing changed for the customer.

  • That's what I thought! Just seemed like the quote was fishy given the headlines ya know.

I've got an insurance product with Debenhams - is it still valid?

If you have car, pet, travel or gadget insurance with Debenhams you will continue to be covered, even after it's closed down.

That's because the insurance is underwritten by a third party, so Debenhams says it's unaffected by the liquidation process.

But what Debenhams doesn't know at this stage is whether you'll be able to renew your existing policy when it expires, or if it will be renewed automatically. So it's worth keeping an eye on your policy as it approaches the renewal date, and as always, checking if you can switch and save. See our Insurance section for more help.

Debenhams insurance is provided by the broker behind Go Skippy hence why the prices are sort of linked.
